Education
Dr. Miles graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science – Psychology. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, where she was honored with the National Optometric Student Achievement Award. During her clinical internships, Dr. Miles received specialized training in Primary Eyecare at the Martha Eliot Health Center in Jamaica Plain, MA; Ocular Disease Diagnosis & Management at Omni Eye Specialists in Baltimore, MD; and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT.
Professional
Dr. Miles began her career in an optometric group practice in Baltimore before joining an ophthalmology practice as a Medical Optometrist. She later became an entrepreneur, opening Global Eye Care, where she practiced holistic eye care for seven years. In 2011, Dr. Miles relocated to Charlotte, NC, to become a Board Examiner at the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Prior to joining Metrolina Eye Associates, she practiced at a well-established ophthalmology office in Rock Hill, SC.
Special Interest
With 18 years of experience as a Medical Optometrist, Dr. Miles specializes in diabetic and autoimmune eye exams, pre- and postoperative care for cataract and LASIK surgeries, as well as the therapeutic treatment of glaucoma and eye infections. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is passionate about science-based clinical nutrition and its role in eye health. Dr. Miles is certified as a Nutritional Health Counselor by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and has written articles on health, wellness, and holistic nutrition. She is an active member of the National Optometric Association, the Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society, and the Glaucoma Optometric Society.
Personal Background
Dr. Miles is an essential oils specialist and is dedicated to healthy living with her family. She is an avid tennis enthusiast and enjoys traveling, as well as cheering on her daughter’s competitive cheer team.
