Education
Dr. Mac completed his undergraduate studies at Boston University, where he double majored in Biology and Economics. He then pursued his medical education at Wake Forest University, where he was selected as one of only two students for the prestigious dual MD/MBA degree program. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Mac undertook an internship in Internal Medicine followed by a three-year residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville.

Professional Experience
Dr. Mac founded Metrolina Eye Associates in 2004, bringing together a team of highly skilled physicians to provide comprehensive eye care. He is a recognized leader in his field, having authored numerous papers on topics within ophthalmology and lectured at local, national, and international levels. Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Mac has been named one of the nation’s top cataract and refractive surgeons by the Consumers Research Council of America.
Special Interests
Dr. Mac specializes in LASIK, PRK, and other refractive surgeries, including laser-assisted cataract surgery and the EVO implantable collamer lens (ICL). He is dedicated to advancing the field of ophthalmology by collaborating with industry partners to develop and market new innovations aimed at improving patient care. In addition to his refractive surgery expertise, Dr. Mac practices comprehensive ophthalmology, offering specialized care in diabetic eye management and glaucoma treatment.
Personal Background:
Originally from Southern California, Dr. Mac has made Waxhaw, NC his home in recent years. He is married with three children, including twin daughters and a son.
