Education
Dr. Kimberly Cao graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. She then followed her passion for eye care by pursuing her Doctorate of Optometry at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.
Professional
Before entering optometry school, Dr. Cao worked as an optometric technician in a private practice, which sparked her interest in pursuing a career in optometry. Her professional training included valuable internships at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, and a private practice in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Cao is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Optometry and the North Carolina Optometric Society.
Special Interest
Dr. Cao specializes in providing comprehensive primary eye care for adults and children ages 14 and older. She has a particular interest in contact lens fitting and the management of ocular diseases, with a focus on conditions such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and glaucoma.
Personal
Dr. Cao was drawn to North Carolina’s diverse landscapes, with its easy access to both mountains and beaches, and has made Charlotte her home. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on local and national soccer teams, attending concerts, traveling, and spending quality time with friends, family, and her beloved cat, Archie.
