
Spring Plihcik, OD
Education
Dr. Plihcik graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. She was awarded a health professions scholarship from the U.S. Navy to pursue optometry at the University of Houston, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors in 1998.
Professional
Dr. Plihcik began her eye care career as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Medical Service Corps, where she received specialized training in the treatment of traumatic eye injuries and traumatic brain injury. She served in Norfolk, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., before transitioning to civilian practice. After leaving active duty, Dr. Plihcik worked at the Indian Health Service in San Diego, California, where she focused on diabetic eye disease and hypertensive retinopathy. In 2018, Dr. Plihcik relocated to the Charlotte area with her family. She is an active member of the North Carolina Optometric Society and the American Optometric Association.
Special Interests
Dr. Plihcik specializes in comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fitting, the treatment of ocular diseases, and the co-management of ocular surgeries, including LASIK.
Personal Background
Dr. Plihcik and her husband, both veterans, have two high school-aged children. They enjoy performing arts, college football, and family trips to Disney World.
