What’s Visian ICL?
Some people call it the “implantable contact lens”, but the correct term is Implantable Collamer® Lens. Visian ICL is the FDA approved new generation in vision correction. Think of it as an implantable lens that works with your natural eye to correct your vision. This procedure treats a wider range of prescriptions that can free you from your glasses and contacts. We know how much of a hassle those are.
What’s Collamer?
Collamer is a material used exclusively by STAAR Surgical in our Visian ICL and other corrective lenses. The material consists of collagen which naturally occurs in your body. There are quite a few unique characteristics that make the Visian Implantable Collamer® Lens ideal. The lens is biocompatible meaning it works in harmony with your natural eye. The lens is soft and pliable and is typically not noticeable after it’s implanted. As an added benefit, there’s built in UV protection in the ICL.
